Who Are We?

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is the region’s economic development delivery organisation.

From April 2026, we will lead the delivery of regionally commissioned economic development activity aligned to the West Midlands Growth Plan, working in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority and local authorities.

The Role

As our new Programmes Executive – Real Estate, you’ll join a small, high-performing team working at the intersection of the public and private sectors, helping to shape the future growth and regeneration of the West Midlands. The team works across a diverse range of real estate, investment, and regeneration projects, while leading the region’s presence at major industry events such as UKREiiF and MIPIM.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with early-career experience looking to develop their career in economic development, investment, regeneration, or programme delivery. We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, particularly those with a genuine interest in how places are shaped by economic, social, and political factors.

We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious, highly organised, confident in their written and verbal communication, and comfortable working with data. While knowledge of real estate, investment, or economic development would be beneficial, enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and the ability to quickly grasp new concepts are what matter most.

You’ll Be Involved In:

• Supporting the delivery of key Capital Investment programmes and initiatives.
• Coordinating communications with project applicants and stakeholders.
• Monitoring programme performance and providing timely reporting.
• Supporting business development and marketing activities relating to investment opportunities.
• Assisting with stakeholder engagement across the investment and development community.
• Supporting the planning and delivery of major industry events, including UKREiiF and MIPIM.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Providing day-to-day support for investment and regeneration programmes.
• Managing stakeholder and applicant communications.
• Maintaining accurate programme records, databases, and reporting information.
• Producing reports, presentations, and performance updates.
• Supporting event planning, logistics, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Assisting with project monitoring and pipeline management.
• Working collaboratively with internal teams, public sector partners, investors, developers, and consultants.
• Supporting shareholder and KPI reporting requirements

What You’ll Bring

Essential

• Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to analyse and work confidently with both qualitative and quantitative information.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Interest in economic development, regeneration, public policy, investment, or place-making.
• Experience gained through employment, placements, internships, or other relevant environments demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and teamwork.

Desirable

• Degree or studies in Real Estate, Planning, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Experience using CRM systems.
• Understanding of the real estate, regeneration, development, or investment sectors.
• Knowledge of the West Midlands region.
• Experience within a fast-paced, stakeholder-focused, or client-facing environment.
