A unique opportunity has arisen to work for an award-winning consultancy in Birmingham. This multi-disciplinary consultancy is looking for a career-minded senior / principal bridge engineer to join their team, gaining valuable hands-on design experience on both rail and highway bridge projects for a number of large contractors. This role offers a range of projects from temporary works to major complex bridge design schemes with many projects in the rail sector.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7-10 years’ experience working in the design of bridges or civils structures.

Key Role Responsibilities

You will be responsible for project delivery and undertake the role of technical lead on a range of bridge and transportation-related projects:
Lead and mentor bridge staff on tasks such as structural analysis, feasibility studies, tender designs, detailed designs and the production of contract documents and technical reports.
Use your knowledge and skills in working together with the team and other disciplines in providing an integrated service to clients
Help seek innovative solutions in achieving best value in delivering our services
Help development of the team through the delivery of projects and commissions, providing technical and administrative support and leadership where required

Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills

A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council. Ideally, you will already be Chartered Member status of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or Institution of Structural Engineers (CEng IStructE)
A minimum of 6 years post qualification experience in the design of all aspects of highways and civil engineering design and construction
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislation, standards and procedures. Working knowledge of standard highway and civil engineering specifications, conditions of contract and methods of measurement
Experience in design of a range of bridge types;
Experience in Building Information Modelling (BIM);
Experience in undertaking client-facing roles and an ability to attract new clients into the business
Experience in the delivery of ECI or design and build projects;
Experience in construction supervision.
