A superb opportunity has arisen with one of our clients for a Head of Finance (Finance Director Designate) – High Value Metals (Aluminium, Nickle Alloys, Stainless Steel and Titanium), Value Added Services and Other Specialist Products to work across the UK & Ireland and India.

About the role:
As a Head of Finance (Finance Director Designate) – High Value Metals (Aluminium, Nickle Alloys, Stainless Steel and Titanium), Value Added Services and Other Specialist Products, you will oversee the entire Financial function within the business which has an overall turnover of circa £120,000,000 across multiple sites. You will be responsible for a total of 8 people in total including 2 Financial Controllers but there is also a lot of scope to build on and develop the existing team so experience of doing this would be beneficial.
You will be measured on cash flow, making sure robust systems are in place within the finance function not to mention looking at improvements on costings and cost efficiencies. You will have responsibility and accountability for contributing to the improvement of working capital, profitability and operational cashflow according to the annual objectives set by the business. You will possess a real and tangible enthusiasm for demonstrating ownership, being a real player on the team and a force for progress. What they do not want is someone who thinks Finance is just a reporting function, with no embedded involvement in the business. They want someone who ‘owns it’ and ‘delivers it’.
The client is also looking for someone who wants to become a true leader within the business who is also focused on the overall financial results and overall company performance and they are looking for someone to help drive the team and business forward, getting involved with the other senior business leaders to help set the overall company strategy. They also need someone who has a strong understanding and experience of working with HMRC and dealing with complex tax issues.
Another key attribute is the ability to energise potential re-organisation and change management in the Financial environment, working with the senior team to identify positive areas for change, communicate and garner support and then implement change, with all the challenges that will be encountered. For that, a candidate is needed who embraces accountability, ownership, impact and simplification.
You will work with a customer base of clients in sectors such as the Aerospace industry and the Défense industry so experience of these sectors would be beneficial.
About you:
The ideal candidate will have a strong Financial background and strong man management experience in either High Value Metals Distribution, alternatively they may consider applicants with experience working for a High Value Metals Manufacturer / Mill, they will also look at applicants with experience of working within the Wider Aerospace industry or final they may consider applicants with a Contract Manufacturing background to work across the UK & Ireland and India.
The company require an individual who will have a real leadership presence and can communicate clearly with staff and senior colleagues/board members alike. They also require someone who is very commercially focused and isn’t simply a ‘Numbers person’ or an accountant but sees themselves as a true business leader who is very collaborative.
They also are looking for someone who has the ability to coach/mentor the business leaders in understanding the financial impact of decisions and how to assess and understand the impact of ‘coming to the right decisions.
They also need someone who has a good attention to detail who can demonstrate and show good examples of where they have previously influenced business decisions. Someone who can bring a fresh approach and fresh ideas would also be advantageous.
