Financial Accountant – Manufacturing
Salary: £35-45,000 + bonus + benefits
Our Client is a leading food manufacturing business with fantastic growth plans for the next five years and is seeking a management accountant with a real passion for expanding their skills and working collaboratively as a partner in the business
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the role is responsible for supporting in the production of weekly & monthly accounts, completed to a high level of accuracy in a relevant and timely manner. The role will allow the person to develop strong working relationships across all functions, whilst giving the opportunity to broaden their financial understanding in a growing business.
This is a super role bringing the best of Financial Reporting and FP&A activity together.
Preparation of monthly accounts, year-end processes and all financial accounting.
Reporting of material variance analysis, labour reporting and weekly stock pack
Preparation and completion of tax information in line with strict deadlines, ensuring the information is
complete, accurate and timely.
Responsibility for Sales, Purchase, General and Fixed Assets Ledgers.
Setting up new and maintaining existing purchase ledger accounts
Assist departmental manager’s through the monthly reforecasting / annual budgeting process and preparing departmental forecasts / budgets for internal review.
Working collaboratively with all departments partnering and advising (FP&A activity)
Support Financial Controller in the production of the monthly financial forecast
Provide support to the Financial Controller, including business analyses, business improvement projects and ad hoc requests.
Liaising with external accountants.
Production & review of the monthly VAT return ensuring correct treatment of all items
Submission of monthly EC sales and other external data as required.
Balance sheet reconciliations.
Reconciliation of company bank accounts.
Daily reconciliation of company safe’s
Preparing a monthly report to analyse the capital spend year to date and forecast out turn.
Reconciling stock accounts on a monthly basis and identifying and investigating any anomalies.
Continually reviewing business processes to ensure effective and efficient control.
Build empowered and fully engaged teams that are responsible and accountable within their roles.
Conduct regular 1-2-1’s & review on a timely basis progress against personal & company objectives
Manage skills development, training and succession plans
Create an environment where employee engagement is high: knowledge is shared, best practice adopted, and teams work collaboratively across the business
Implement all Company policy and procedures within the workplace
Part Qualified / Qualified Accountant (CIMA or ACCA). – first time passes
Previous manufacturing or logistics experience is essential
Highly numerate, with excellent attention to detail.
Previous experience of managing and developing teams (desirable)
Strong accounting and Microsoft Office computer skills. Advanced Excel is essential
Experience of a company wide integrated finance system is essential eg SAP, Oracle, IFS etc
Experience of business partnering and using numbers to inform decisions
An individual with energy and drive, to work at pace in a fast-moving environment.
Self-starter, keen to develop financial knowledge/experience, & broaden understanding of manufacturing
Good written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate confidently at all levels & influence across the functions
Ability to demonstrate forward thinking alongside planning and organisational skills.
Strong team player, able to persuade and influence others across all functions of the business.
Good commercial acumen, highly numerate, strong data and statistical analysis and written reporting skills.
Ability to work well under pressure whilst working accurately with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Ability to influence in a passionate non-technical way.
