Salary: £20,000 - £24,000
Hours: 40 (Flexible)
Location: Delamere House, Crewe, CW1 2JZ (working from home during Covid-19)

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking for an apprentice type, development opportunity where further study will be supported. We are looking for an enthusiastic Construction Design Technician to join our growing highway design team on the Cheshire network. Based in Crewe, the team designs and delivers a full range of highway related schemes for the local council and other clients. You would be responsible for the initiation, planning and implementation of highway, traffic and road safety projects such as traffic management, junction improvements, cycleways etc. The successful candidate will have an interest in further development, previous experience within construction or infrastructure design and have experience using AutoCAD.

The successful candidate will have:

o Previous experience within construction or infrastructure design
o Previous use of applicable computer software packages (MS Office, AutoCAD)
o BTech Level 3 in Construction or equivalent (desirable)
o An appreciation of traffic engineering related procedures, highway law, statutory procedures (desirable)
o Understand the principles of effective supervision of cost and value
o An understanding of technical manuals and other technical and design guidance
o UK Driver's License

You would be responsible for:

o Management of scheme work packages including pre-construction information
o Development of designs using AutoCAD and CAD based software
o Ensure the scheme design complies with the specification and agreed programme
o Maintain accurate records on the allocated projects
o Production of technical reports as required
o Manage work to programme and be accountable for delivery of design service work in line with fee
o Liaison with client, local Councillors, stakeholders and third parties and attend meetings where necessary
o Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be directed relevant to the post
