Commercial Financial Accountant
Location: Uttoxeter – Elkes Biscuits
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Commercial Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team at our Uttoxeter bakery site.
The Commercial Financial Accountant will drive decisions while supporting the commercial team and supporting marketing in commercial justifications. They will be evaluating and modelling pricing and marketing strategies alongside range reviews. Providing support and understanding of the financials of the sector and challenge performance and strategy. They will ensure financial controls are sustained across functions and Management Information is provided to the business, while consolidating and Reporting of the Weekly P&L and Monthly P&L.
The successful candidate will have worked in a similar Financial Accountant position within either the Food Manufacturing or FMCG sectors. They will have experience of working cross functionally with other departments outside of Finance, along with excellent stakeholder skills. They will have good IT skills including Excel and ideally experience with SAP. They will be able to work at Pace and the ability to adapt to change with good organisational skills.
In the early 1900s Samuel Elkes opened a confectionery shop in Uttoxeter and in 1928 a purpose built biscuit factory was opened on the current site. In 1986 the company was bought by Northern Foods and was run as Elkes Biscuits, later becoming Fox’s Biscuits and returning to Elkes Biscuits within 2 Sisters Food Group.
Uttoxeter is known for the biscuit barrel and is the home of the Malted Milk biscuits along with producing Ginger biscuits, Farley’s Rusks, Custard Creams, Chocolate Digestive Bars, Oaties Digestives. Providing retailer own label biscuits to all the major retailers including Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and Lidl.
The factory is well established within the community and has a fantastic culture of team work, internal progression and recognition. They employ around 580 employees and produce on average 680 tonnes of biscuits per week.

The Commercial Financial Accountant will support the Factory Finance Business Partner in decision-making on investment and priority decisions across our products, customers and channels.
They will be commercially focused completing actual and forecast analysis, working with Commercial and Marketing Team to ensure robust control process on all customer investment transactions with appropriate reporting. Along with coordinating Commercial budgeting and forecasting to identify challenges and build gap-filling action plans.
The Commercial Financial Accountant will provide insight on current performance issues and challenges and drive improvement actions across the Commercial team. They will ensure robust control process on all customer investment transactions with appropriate reporting. Along with supporting the Innovation team with scenarios, decision support and tracking including post-evaluation.
They will be responsible for Pre- and post-evaluation of promotional investment and JBP decisions, Consolidating and Reporting of the Weekly/Monthly P&L. Along with reporting of Logistics actual and forecast costs including Stock Management and Purchase Price Variance.
