We are currently looking to appoint a Climate Change and Adaptation Engineer (CCAE) to assist in the delivery of the technical aspects of our work. The CCAE will actively contribute to TRL’s strategic objective of continuing the growth of its engineering business, through delivering research and consultancy to customers across the public and private sectors. The successful candidate will be stationed in our offices in Crowthorne, or Birmingham but will work predominantly on international assignments. The role also involves travel abroad.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
The Climate Change and Adaptation Engineer (CCAE) will primarily assist the team in incorporating climate resilience aspects in the delivery of research and consultancy projects in the areas of hydrology and drainage design, pavement analysis, pavement performance, materials investigation, slope stability and the development of standards, guidelines and manuals. The role will also involve building relationships with stakeholders in the highways sector internationally and in the UK, to identify commercial opportunities and deliver projects through innovative thinking.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following areas:
Qualifications
Educated to degree level or higher in civil engineering or environmental sciences with either additional qualifications in climate resilience or experience in designing climate resilient infrastructure. Ideally the successful applicant should be a member of an appropriate professional institution.
Communication Requirements
Eligible candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare high quality technical reports, proposals and present work at seminars and conferences.
